DATE OF EVENT CHANGED TO TUESDAY, JUNE 26, 2018
United Way Day of Action is an invitation for people and organizations around the world to LIVE UNITED and take action to address a variety of challenges. It is a day that we ask you to help us put our mission into action by volunteering to improve the building blocks for a good quality of life – education, financial stability, and health.
Lake Area United Way will have the first annual Day of Action on June 26, 2018. This year’s Day of Action will focus on Senior Health and Safety. LAUW will be recruiting volunteers to work on minor home repair projects on the Day of Action and beyond. OG&E will sponsor the Day of Action and will use the Silver Energy Program to provide an energy efficiency survey of the home and make the appropriate weatherization improvements. OG&E will also provide volunteers for the Day of Action.
Eligible repairs include, but are not limited to, minor electrical and plumbing problems, weatherization, including installing energy efficient light bulbs and sealing air leaks around the windows and doors, mobility accessibility concerns such as building ramps or installing accessibility bars in bathrooms. Some yard cleanup and tree removal may be considered.
To volunteer, register through VolunteerMatch.com. A staff member will contact you about the volunteer opportunities for Day of Action. For groups who wish to volunteer, please call Terry Beutelschies, 918-682-1364.
